About BLOX

Welcome to my website! My name Chona Fe Canlas (BLOX) and I am the creative engine behind ChonaBLOX and Blox. Communications.

I love colour, composition and great design. My work is bright, bold and oh-so-very serious.

As a child, I was obsessed with communication. With my mom’s help, I honed in the right skills through various after school programs – Toastmasters, sign language, calligraphy, creative writing, art classes – and this was all before entering high school. So, you can see WHY I’ve chosen a career path focused on communication.

I have spent a good part of my life exploring ways to see, hidden in the beauty of our everyday surroundings.

Academically, I come from a background of fine arts – printmaking (intaglio/serigraphy), painting (abstract colourist) and conceptual art theory (Deleuze). I have also studied the foundations of graphic design, collaborated with collectives who’ve launched creative campaigns and was the chief art director for a creative business partnership called Bubbles + Blocks.

I am proud to have had the opportunity to guide and lead peers, friends and communities through creative and thoughtful awakenings – small and large.

I now reside in beautiful British Columbia, where I share my passion for art in every form with my brilliant husband Romel. Together, we brought a curious little girl into our world on December 13, 2016. Her name is Bishop Roux Anaïs (after Anaïs Nin) and she is simply, the best!
