About Chona Fe Canlas

Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Chona received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree in Printmaking, Painting & Art Theory from the University of Calgary in 2002. Once graduated, she focused on establishing herself as an independent, commercial artist.

Between 2002 to 2005, Chona launched and operated an art gallery from her home while working with groups like The Arbour Lake Sghool and snowboarding apparel company Snowspeeders (now Somewon Collective).

In 2006, Chona moved to British Columbia to study Foundational Graphic Design at The Art Institute of Vancouver. Then in 2008, she landed a job with Bell Mobility, Canada’s #1 telecommunications company and LTE/HSPA+ based wireless service provider. Over a period of 10 years, she gained invaluable experience in customer service, account management and sales. Her longest held position was as a Corporate Account Manager (Corporate Client Care Representative). In this position, she managed accounts within the medium and enterprise business market segments of Bell. Her targeted verticals were divvied between  construction, retail and oil & gas. Chona managed accounts for Lafarge Canada, Aritzia, The Brick, Enbridge Inc., TransCanada Corporation (now TC Energy), Nova Chemicals (see videos), Tarpon Energy, Trotter & Morton, Houle ElectricHusky Energy, The Jim Pattison Group, Canwel Building Materials Group Ltd, Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited, The Calgary Stampede, Van Kam Freightways Ltd., Sysco Corporation and more. Chona was also proud to represent one of Canada’s first corporate mental health initiatives, Let’s Talk. The four pillars of the initiative’s program strategy are Anti-Stigma, Care & Access, Research and Workplace Health. Overall, her time spent with Bell Mobility provided insight, motivation and drive for understanding employee performance, the different ways to engage with clients and how metrics can be used to evaluate the efficiency of communication strategy as a whole.

In 2018, Chona left Bell Mobility to re-launch her creative career (see A Work in Progress). She began working for VanWhistle Media, a digital marketing startup agency based in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. Alongside the company founder and CEO, she helped to create the agency’s brand identity, marketing collateral, sales-focused core concepts, and growth & awareness strategies from the bottom-up. Between 2019-2022, Chona gained valuable experience working for i-Open Technologies, a geospatial technology solutions provider, and Clearbridge Business Solutions, an IT company focused on strategy, security, and support.

Today Chona is the Marketing Coordinator/Manager at Longboard Architectural Products. She applies agile marketing, demand generation, and ABM principles to create innovative strategies that promote organizational sustainability and scalability. Her expertise includes market research, project management, brand development, and team leadership to achieve ambitious goals. In her current role, she developed the 9-Point Strategy, a strategic framework yielding notable improvements in resource allocation while providing executives with invaluable insights into market potential and the customer journey.

Drawing upon her extensive 15+ years of experience in account management, sales, customer service, and creative direction, Chona has consistently driven transformative change for B2C and B2B brands. She’s dedicated to continually pushing the boundaries of marketing excellence, delivering tangible results, and fuelling the growth of organizations in today’s ever-evolving business landscape.
